DENNISTON MINE IDLE.
V MAN'S SUSPENSION RESENTED. (By Telegraph— Prera Association.) V/estport, October 3. All work is completely suspended in all sections of the Wostport Coal Company's Denniston colliery to-day. Ino trouble is due to tho suspension of a trucker in the Cascade section on a charge of using obscene language to an official of the company. It is said the young man does not deny tho use or tho words alleged, but states ho was unduly provoked. Yesterday morning tho truckers In tho Cascade section refused to work, throwing that section of the mine idle. A meeting of the union ( wsis held last night, at whioh tho position was disoussod. It is understood that it was held tho trucker was victimised. A demand was served on tho malinger for tho trucker's reinstatement. This was refused, and no mon wont into the mmo this morning. , Tho original troublo in. tho Cascade section hns thus extended to the Iron Bridge and Wareatea sections, and tho surface works. There iB hopo of an early settlement. Apart, however, from the present .trouble arising from trifling causes, there is a good deal of unrest at Denniston colliery. Industrial agreements were recently arranged between representatives of the coal companies and delegates from the unions. These wore approved by the Granity and Stockton mines, but tho Donniston agreement was rejected, and work has been proceeding under the old agreement. SETTLEMENT LIKELY. Westport, October 3. Tho executive of the Miners' Union waited on tho management to-day, and it has been decided to submit to the union to-morrow tho terms, proposed by the manager; and which, it is understood, include the reinstatement of tho trucker on his making an apolop and an assurance being f|ivcn tliat the mine will not be thrown idle over mat- ' ters such as that which has causedl tho present troublo. It is hoped that work will be resumed on Monday.
