A STORM-TOSSED SCHOONER.

* RACHEL COHEN SPRINGS A LEAK? (By Tolegraph—Pres3 Ascociation.) Dunedin, October 3. Tho schooner Rachel arrived unexpectedly off tho Heads this morning, and was towed up to Port Chalmers. She loft Stewart Island 10 days ago for the Macquarie Islands to land stores and bring back a cargo of oil. Soon after, clearing land sho ran into a succession of violent gales, and day after day plugged against high seas and fierce squalls, her decks being continually flooded. Eventually it was found that the straining and buffeting had caused tho vessel's planks to open up in places, through which a considerable amount of water found its way into the holds. Tho crew had no difficulty in keeping the' water in check with tho pumps, but rather than run any further risks Captain AVoebling put back to Port Chalmers to have tho seams recaulked. Tho vessel will go into dock to-morrow, and after repairs have been effected .will make_ another attempt to reach tho Macquaries.
