EPIDEMIC REPORTS.
CASE DISCOVERED AT PAEIPAKI. (Bj Takararh—Preai Aa«oola,tlon.l . Hastings, October 3. • A mild caso 'of smallpox was detected by Dr. M'Kibbin at Pakipaki Pa, six miles from Hastings, yesterday. Ihe patient is a young Maori woman, who attended the races here on Wednesday. The doctor states the case is similar to. those occurring in Auckland, and is not very serious. The patient was removed to the quarantine station this afternoon, and everything possible ■,has beon done to prevent the spread • of the disease. The district has been isolated, and the l'akipaki School closed. Orders have been given forbidding the travelling of Natives. Tho Health Department has communicated with tho Hastings Town Clerk, asking instructions be given to servo notices on tho proprietors of public entertainments that no Natives be admitted to performances, and taxicab proprietors are notified that Natives are not to travel in their vehicles. WHANGAREI CLEAN. Whangarol, October 8. Dr. Frazer Hurst, medical superintendent under tho Marsden-Kaipara Hospital Board, states that the Whangarol County is now practically clean so far as tho epidemio is concorned. Only two children aro now sufforing one is almost well, and tho other has the complaint in a very mild form. There had been 365 cases in the county sinco the commencement of the outbreak. Tho work of disinfecting the various Maori kaingas in the county would soon be completed. THE BULLETIN. Tho District Health Officer, Auckland, reports no fresh cases in Auckland city or suburbs or district. The District Health Officer, Wellington, reports one Maori caso in the Hawke 3 j Bay district. ___
