ATHLETIC SPORTS.

CRICKETt THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Ho Wellington Public Schools' Crickot Association is to hold its annual meeting this morning. Tho annual report states as follow:—"During the past season 23 teams (11 senior and 12 junior) took part in the schools' competition. This is a record, but there are still largo city schools that havo no teams playing in the junior' grade. In tho city,. the senior championship resulted in a win for t'ho South Wellington -School, who were unbeaten. In the final against tho Hutt School, winners of tho Hutt Valley Competition, thoy wero beaten rather easily, however. Tho Hutt School therefore holds Volkmann and Tucker's Cup for tho ensuing season. In the junior grade, the Karori School, who had an exceptionally strong team, won without Deing extended. The annual representative match against tho Wairarapa Schools was played in Wellington. Heavy rain fell on tho Saturday, and play had to be postponed till Monday, when our boys won by 22 runs on the first innings. thanks to the vigorous play by the ' tail' of the team. The thanks of our association are duo to tho City Council, tho Cricket Association, and tho ltugby Union for tho use of wickets, to xMcssrs. Bethune and Stewart for donations, and to Messrs. Laws and Manning for printing this report; to the Education Board for the use of thoir room, and to the headmasten for their co-operation in arranging gamoß. For tho season 1913-14, it has been decidcd that in t'ho senior competition matches shall be of two days' duration, and that the championship shall bo decided by points: viz., 3 for a win in a completed match, 2 for a win on the first innings, and 1 to each side in a tie. The balance-sheet, in spite of a heavier expenditure than usual, discloses a credit balance of £9 13s. Id."

BROOKLYN CLTJB. Tho annual meeting of the Brooklyn Cricket Club was held on Thursday, Mr. Barnett presiding. The report congratulated members on a most successful season, tho club having won tho third-class championship. It was announced that three trophies had been presented for competition during the coming season. It waa decided to entor a team for tho junior championship. Tho following officers were elected :—President, Mr. M. Barnett; vicepresidents, Messrs. W. Donovan, R. O'Connor, and T. Thompson; secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. Brown; manage-, ment and selection committee, Messrs. M. Barnett, G. Brown, and J. Lowe; delegato to Wellington Cricket Association, Mr. J. Lowe. '
