Tho police, accompanied by the arrestee, went to tho scene of the tragedy, wliero, by the medium of signs, interpreted by a step-brother, Freeman indicated that ho, Anderson, and a third boy had been bird-nesting, and that tho last-named deliberately shot Andorson while he was up a tree, and then sovered the head from tho body. The polico disorcdit tho theory that there was a third boy. They have ascertained that Freeman had a grudge against Anderson for rabbiting on his (Freeman's) father's' land, and twice threatened to shoot him.
