The improvement of Auokland's inland waterways is to be considered by a 1 big conference noxt week. Fifty local bodies have been invited to send delegates and a schedulo of resolutions approved by tlio Auckland Harbour Board will be submitted for discussion. The chairman of tho Harbour Board (Sir. ; J. H. Gunson) remarked to a " Herald" representative on Monday that the conference would be most .important and its results would probably lie far-reach-ing.' The development or the Auckland Province was going on at such a rate that tlio important question of inland navigation and waterways demanded serious attention. Auckland possessed unrivalled advantages in this connection, and these should be fully utilised. Tho conference was going'to be of such I a representative character t'liat it would 1)0 ablo to deal with t'ho question with a full recognition of its merits.
