CONDEMNED STOCK.
QUESTION- OF COMPENSATION. Dealing yesterday with n question by Mr. Witty as to whether ho could seo his wav to increftso tho amount of compensation payable for condemned stock, tho Hon. W. I<\ Massey stated that it was notjikely that Parliament would have timo to deal with an amendment of the Stock Act during tho present session.
. Discussing tho subject later, *tfr. Massey said that ho agreed with Mr. Witty t'hat stock had gone uj> considerably in value since, the passing of the Act, and he (Mr. Massey) felt inclined to take tlic suggestion that compensation should be increased-into consideration. Ho would adviso Mr. Witty to forward a petition signed by parties interested. This petition could go before tho stock committee, and after inquirv had been made by the committee it might he possible.to introduce a small Bill dealing with the matter at the end of tho session.
