THE COMPETITIONS.
BIGGER ENTRIES THAN EVER. As far as Wellington is concerned tlio entries for the bis competitions to be held at; tlie Town Hall next month closed last evening. Tlio staff of the secretary (Sir. J. Dykes) were kept busy during' tlio whole of yesterday receiving the entry forms of intending com.petitons and up to a lato hour last night they were still streaming in. There are still many more to;, arrive by post to-day and to-morrow, so that the c-xact number cannot yet bo stated, but the secretary states that they are in excess of thoso received lasjj year. The entries are very representative, and include names from all parts of tlio Dominion. Four good entries have been received for the big choral contest, and the clioirs of Grafton Road (Auckland) and Feilding will meet again in the contest for church choirs. .'The entries in the elocution classes are very heavy (particularly in the dramatic classes), and includo the name of that talented performer, Miss Lilian Pritchard, of Melbourne. Tlio vocal sections are extensively patronised, and all classes for children aro well filled.
