The Karamu gelding, Witched, will be a good favourite in tho Hack Hurdles at Hastings to-day. He will have his usual pilot (A. Julian) in the saddle.

Bliss was an absentee from the Hast-' ings tracks yesterday, but it_ is not known if anything- is amiss with her. Should she see the post in the Final Handicap to-day she will start favourite. '

B. Deeley has not made the recovery anticipated from his accident at Ashburton, and E. Griffin lias gono to Hastings to ride • Bon Reve in the Spring Handicap to-day.

The reported breakdown of Gazette •at Otaki turned out to be nothing more than soreness, and the Gazeley colt has been galloping exceptionally well since arriving at Hastings.

Beforo leaving Awapuni for Hastings tho chestnut mare Lady Nolan galloped a very good mile, and, on this form, she will have many friends in the bjg handicap at Hastings to-day. She will be ridden, by W. Bell.

Sir Daniel was started at an upcountry meeting in Sydney last month, but, with- A. Oliver in the saddle, he failed to show up, and finished down the course.

Arohakau is engaged in both tho Spring Handicap and Waipatu Hack Handicap to-day, but the San Fran mare is likely to bo reserved for the latter event. She has been _gaJloping well on'the tracks, and promises to be a thorn, in the side of Gazette and Kooya.
