FINANCIAL POSITION SUM- ; , . MARISED. A return 1 presented to tho House of Representatives yesterday, on tho motion of Dr. A. K. Newman, summarises the position of the Post and Telegraph Service from the financial point of view. According to the roturn, the amount of capital invested up to March 31, 1913, was: In land and buildings, £1,030,822; in telegraph and telephone lines, £2.277,125; or a, total of £3,307,947. The amount of interest over and above working expenses for the year to March 31, 1913, was set down at £98,554, or 2.98 percent, on tho capital invested. ... j/i At 3£ per cent, the interest on the capital invested would be £115,778, so that tho deficit on the basis taken is therefore £17,224.
