Auckland, September 29. _ Three cases at the Police Court this morning had to do with tho epidemic cases at-Orakei and tho precautions taken bv the Health Department to prevent its spreading. m ■ A Native named lame Tauna was charged that, 011 August 27, being tho occupier of house in tlio Onutci health district, in which Takatai loliana was found sick of an infectious disease, ho had neglected to notify the authorities. Mr. JiVazer, S.M., said that undoubtedly other Maoris had,been cleverover the matter, but, according to tlio evidenoe, defendant had given some sort of notico 011 tlio day after he was leit in charge of .the house, and His Worship could not do more than convict him and order liini to pay the costs. James M. Galviiij a Tosident of Orakei, admitted that 011 September i lie entered the Orakei Native pa when it was infected with smallpox. in* spector M'Grath said that Galvm met close to the pa, and well knew that it was isolated, but lie deliberately rocle through tho pa after having been warned.
