The Japanese Legation denies the report regarding the ultimatum, and states that General Chang-Hsun apologised to-day, and that other demands nave been satisfied. (Ree. A bodyguard of fifty cavalry accompanied General Chang Hsun to tho Japanese Consulate at Nanking in tho morning, when 119 apologised, in terms of the request made by the Japanese Government, in consequence of the killing of a member of tho Japanese Legation at Nanking during tlio rebellion. Eight hundred of General Chang Hsun's troops marched in the afternoon to tho Japanese Consulate, and i)reBonted arms, their commander saluting tlio consul, while the Japaneso troops stood at attention. It is believed that tho British Consul induced the Japaneso to accept this compromise instead of forcing General Chang Hsun to apologise at tho head of his troops.
