Rinaldo moved nicely over seven furlongs, going evenly throughout. Bliss ran six furlongs, finishing well. Arioni and French Rose covered a mile on tho plough in lniin. 48sec., tho latter showing to better advantage. Redloh wont twice round at a working gallop. Sea Pink did the samo distance at half paco. Merry Roe and Bon Revo were associated in a working gallop over seven furlongs, finishing together in Imin. 38soc. Reputation and Imagination sprinted. Jason, Culprit, Prelusive, and Back Chat got through serviceable tasks.

MANAWATU TROTTINC CLUB. TOTALISATOR PERMIT SOUGHT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Palmei'ston North, September 29. The Prime Minister to-day received a deputation from tho Manawatu Trotting Club, asking for a totalisator permit. The deputation pointed out that the South Island had more permits than the North Island, also that trotting clubs encouraged tho breeding .of a good type of horses, and that tho Manawatu Club had given £200 in stakes at the last meeting, and the club was run at tho individual expense of members. The Prime Minister pointed out that nothing could be done during the present session. The promise he had made to Mr. G. Hunter, M.P., would be kept, and enthusiasts would be given an opportunity to show whether permits should bo increased then. He assured the deputation that if any extra permits wore granted tliey would be in favour of one day meetings. ASOOT FIVE HUNDRED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Itec. The race for tho Ascot Five Hundred (14.2), one mile, resulted:—Gaby, lOst. 21b., 1; Little Jos, Bst. 71b., 2; Tympan, 9st., and Royal Barrier, 7st. 81b.—a dead-heat for third place.
