THAT COST 150 HUMAN LIVES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyrijlit ' New York, September 26. Max Blanck, tho proprietor of tho Triangle Shirt-waist Company's factory, destroyed by fire in March, 1911, was fined iO dollars for having the doors of the faictory locked contrary to tho regulations. No other penalty was imposed.
No fewer than 150 persons, mostly girls, lost their lives. ■ Tlie fire started in the eighth floor, and wlien the alarm was raised the fjirls became panic-stricken. In their frenzied excitement many jumped to the pavement. The girls, foreigners, wero unacquainted with the English language, ana failed to understand the directions given them as to, how to escape froan the burning building.
