Colden Wedding. Mr. and Sirs. Samuel Stewart, of Vermont Street, Ponsonby, celebrated their golden wedding on Tuesday. Mr. and Jlrs. Stewart, who .were married at Kilmarnock, in Scotland, . arrived in Now Zealand in 1885 with their family. They first settled in Southland, and then took up land near Pokeno, subsequently retiring and settling down in Auckland. Among the guests at the celebration werp the Hon. G. A wedding of Wairarapa interest was solemnised at .the Methodist Church, Carterton, on Thursday, when Miss Violet Sayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Saver, of Daletiold, was married to Mr. A. E. Standen, son of Mr. J. Staiiden, of Dalefiekl. There was a largo gathering of friends and well wishers of the young couple at the church, the cercmony being performed by the Rev. 0. H. Standage. A meeting of tho Wellington Women's Suburb Branch of the New Zealand Political Ueform League was held nn Thursday evening at the Esperanto Hall, Lambtou Quay. There was a good attendance, and several new members were enrolled. A paper on "Eugenics," written by Mrs. Wilson, of Christchurch, and lent by Mrs. Uoodcr, of Karori, was read, and freely discussed. Tho ladies of Wellington East were very pleased to report that an effort to form a branch in that electorate was mooting with every success. Mr. and Mrs. W. Holt, of Ponsonby, have just celebrated their golden wedding. Mr. Holt was for two years with the colours during the Maori war, and holds the Now Zealand war medal. The junior assemblies, which have been far moro successful this winter than their organiser (Mrs Morton Clark) anticipated, will end the season with a plain and fancy dress ball, to bo held a fortnight from next ihursday. Farewelllng a Member. Mrs. E. A. James, who arrived ill Wellington on Thursday, and who is now taking up residence in this city, was entertained at afternoon tea in Auckland on Monday hist by tile 1110111bors\of tho Auckland Women's Executive of the New Zealand Political Reform League, of which she lias been an elected member since its inception.
