"THE QUAKER ClllL." At the Opera House ■ 011 Monday evening the ... niuch-looked-forward-to musical comedy success, "The- vuaker Uirr," will be staged for the first time here by the J. C. Williamson Royal Comic Opera Company. The wonderful success which is being enjoyed by J. C. Williamson's company in every town in which they appear is duo no doubt to a large extent to the fact that '"J'ho Quaker Girl" is one of tlio best, brightest-, funniest, and most magnificentlystaged musical comedies produced during recent years, but another, and perhaps a greater factor which has iieipet! >" achieve this happy result is the splendid array of artists entrusted with the principal parts. During their career Hlanche lirowne, Grace I'alotta, Olive Godwin, Jessie Louiicn, liillie Jiarlow, Leslie Holland, Jack Cannot, C. I'. ISnntoek, and Edmund Sltcrras have all taken the "star" roles in some of the. most popular coinio operas staged during recent years, and hero tliey are all bunched together in one production. The following musical numbers will allow them to distinguish themselves: — "Quakers' Meeting'" (chorus), "Tlin Had, Bad Boy and I lie Good Girl'" (Hlanche Browne and Leslie Holland), "Just as Father Used to Do" (Jack Cannot), "Thereabouts" (Jessie Lonnen), "Littlo Grey Bonnet" (Blanche lirortiie), "Come to the Hall" (Edmund Sherras), "A Dancing Lesson" (Blancho iirownc ami Leslie Holland), "Mr. .Jeremiah, Esquire" (Jessio Lonnon and Jack Cannot), "Tony .From America" (Blanche Browne), "Thel'irst Dance" (Blanche Brownie and Leslie Holland). Positively only the six representations can be given of "The Quaker Girl." The plans aro at the Dresden, where scats may be reserved. Tickets for the early door stalls and gallery may be purchased at Christcson's. IIIS .MAJESTY'S TIIEATIiE. The Koyal Bai/zai Family, which is the main attraction at His Majesty's Theatre, and whoso sensational equilibrist i c performance has attracted uniformly large audiences during the past fortnight, will give their last two performances to-day—at '2.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Other attractive acts ajrx at present being contributed by George and Dayne, refined musical sketch artists;. Ernest Pitcher, comedian; Miss Pennington, soubrette and balladist, tho liomas and others. On Monday the management hayo arranged for the appearance of Schepp's Circus, a marvellously trained menagerie of dogs, eats, and monkeys,, which have been delighting largo v-uidiences by their intelligence and skill in other centres.

KING'S THEATRE. At tlio gaily deroratpd King's Theatre picture-lovers are finding their requirements most- adequately eateioil for by a programme oi tho very latest pictures. Those include the realistic ami •sensational picture, tho Child of the Jungle," ; nnd John Bunny's screaming'absurdity, "A Dip. into Society." Signor Truda's capable little orchestra is not tho least delightful feature of the entertainment. The incidental music it is supplying this week includes an excellent selection of airs from l.'cccini's opera " Jladawe Huttcrlly." There will bo a matinee programme of " Waiuba " and the full programme of supporting films at 2.[io this afternoon. On Monday night a complete change of pictures will be shown—the stai- feature of the new subjects will he " Our King's Navy," which is described as being one .of the very best patriotic lilms yet produced.,. THE EMPRESS THEATRE. To-day aud to-night the present programme of tho Empress Theatre continuous pictures will bo seen for the last time. Tho principal "feature" is tho A.13. Company's sensational "Western drama, "An Indian's Loyalty." This is a stirring story with an exciting pursuit on horseback, culminating ill a. daring equestrian feat. A society young lady falls wider tho sinister spoil of an Indian, hypnotist-in "In the Grip of a Charlatan." | The young lady is rescued at the eleventh hour, after an anxious experience. Thoro are also a charming artist's romance, "Tho House in the Woods" (Lubin), "Tho Ernesto Duo" (acrobatic act), "The Amateur Lion Tamer" (an escaped lion comedy hy tlio Vitagraph Company), "While tho Count Goes Hathing" (A.13. i'arec-com-cdy), and others. A new programme will be screened on .Monday. SHOBTTS' THEATRE. "Tho Two Spies" is the title of tho sensational war picture that is to be featured at Shortts' Theatre to-day and this evening. There will bo a special matinee for children this afternoon, and the management announces for Monday a something-out-of-the-ordinary attraction in pictures. CLAHA BUTT'S TOUR. Madame Clara Butt and Mr. Kennerley Jjtumford conclude their Australian tour at the Auditorium, Melbourne, to-night, and so great is the interest in tlio event that the "house" is already sold out according to advices received by Mi'. J. X. Tait, who is now in 1 Wellington. The distinguished artists will spend a week in Sydney with their children before they leave bv tlio Tahiti for Wellington ,011 October 1. The New Zealand 'tour opens here 011 Thursday evening, October 9, and concerts .will also bo given 011 October 11 and 11. Tho box-plans open at the Dresden on AVodnesuay morning, and a heavy booking is expected, as inquiries are already very numerous. In order to obviate confusion coupons will be issued entitling holders to book their scats in rotation. THE ELLWOOI) TRIO. Lovers of coed music will no doubt learn with pleasure that tho talented Kllwood Trio, who delighted their audiences in AVellington recently with their excellent concerts, will give a concert at the Town Hall to-morrow evening (Sunday), assisted by Air. John I'ronse (baritone), and Air. Christian Hellemann (accompanist). Tho concerted numbers by tho trio—Harry, George, and Aliss Polly Elhvood —will include tho Beethoven trio, "Allegro Moderate," the Dittersdorf-Kreisler "Scherzo," and Gounod's "Ave Maria." Alaste'r George Ellwood ('cellist) will play Saint-Sacns's "Le C.ygne," Schubert's "Traumario," and an "Arioso," from the album of Handel, an air from Alatthorson's collection, Schumann's "Abendlied," and an air from Bach. Alaster Harry Ellwood (violin) will play the Schubert-Wilhelm.i arrangement of the former's "Ave Marin," ",La I'recioso" (Confcrini), _ aud Cottenot's "Chanson Meditation." Mr. John Prouse will sing Barnett's "Rock of A"'cs." and the fine aria, "Now Heaven iiTFullrst.
