Tho " Bankors' Magazine" estimates that_ rubber shares have depreciated by £685,000 during the month, and £4,470,000 since the beginning of tho year, w J hile 387 representative general stocks have appreciated by 18J millions during tho month. In 1910 rubber was selling in Mincing Lane at over 10s. per lb., flhc record prico obtained being about 12s. The higfc prico led to the formation of a great number of rubber companies, and plantation rubber, as well as the product from Hie forests of the Congo and Brazil, aro now pouring into tho market. About a month
ago, 850 tons of rublx>r wero on offer at Mincing Lane, and 521 tons at Antwerp. Consumption hay failed to keep paco with tho supply, and the price of rubber has dropped to 3s. Bd. for fine hard Para, other descriptions being lower. A rubber cartel or combination ns suggested in tho message will not aobiove mu£h unless tho object is to stimulate consumption. It is useless storing and holding rubber, as it deteriorates or 1 perishes. The "Bankers' Magazine" (lor.don) compiles a table of 387 representative securities ni?>ted on the I/)ndon Stock Exchange, and the par or face value of these securities is ,£3,424,580,000. The Stock Exchange prices on September 20 or 21 of tho month ore taken, and the movement is shown. According to the message given above, those securities sihow a riso of J318,500,000 as compared with the prices rnling a month ago.
