MILITARY CADETS.
DECEMBER EXAMINATIONS
The Defence' Department have this year received nearly a hundred uiqmneß asto the-conditions on ships at the Duntroon Military College are available to the young men of New Zealand. Ten cadets can be sent tor training each year, but all the places wore not filled this year. Examinations for next year's entrants are to bo held in December, but applications must bo sent in next month on behalf of youths between 1G and 19 3 ears of age oil 1 March 1 of the year of their entrance at the college. Each candidate must pass a medical examination, and pass the examination which is on the lines of the matriculation. After undergoing four years' training, cadets are eligible for appointment as ants at £250 per annum, after which they are eligible to promotion as cap; tn'n< at £350 after seven or eight years service, major at £475 after fifteen years, and as colonel at t'oU.
