! New York, September 22. One Hundred thousand citizons gathered in heavy rain for tho funeral of Mr. W. J. Gaynor, late Mayor of New York. Tho pall-bearers included Mr. Taft, ex-President of tho Uhited States. The Lord Mayor of Liverpool was personally represented.

Tho body was removed from the City Hall to Trinity Church, where tho services wero held. The interment afterwards took placo at Brooklyn cemetery.

Tho Stock Exchanges and other publb buildings wero closed. '
