DEATH SENTENCE CONFIRMED. Madrid, September 21. It is understood that the CaptainGeneral has confirmed the death sontonce passed on Captain Sanchez, and the maximum term of imprisonment passed on his daughter Luisa for the murder of Senor Zalon, a wealthy resident, who disappeared in April last, and whose hotly was found in Juno, cut to pieces, between two walls of a military riding school. Zalon was a notorious gambler and a fnßt livor, and Luiea was ois mistress. SIR EVELYN WOOD. Now York, September 21. The body of the late Mr. W. J- Gaynor, Mayor of Now York, who died suddenly at sea whilo en routo to England, lies in state in tho City Hall. It is wrapped in tho folds of the! American and British flags. Tho latter waß added at the wish of tho widow, who desired to acknowledge tho respect shown when tho body lay in state at Liverpool. PREHISTORIC WOMEN. New York) September 21. The skulls of fifty-eight women have been found at Plattsmouth, Nebraska; also flint instruments. A peculiar feature is tlio absence of all bones excepting skulls, which all faced cast. Tlio find is considered to bo of archaeological interest.
