BANK CRISIS IN INDIA.
PEOPLE'S BANK SUSPENDED. By Tolfljrraph—Proas Association—Oopyriilit Lahore, September 21. Yhe People's Bank of India, with sev-enty-two branohoa as far apart as Rangoon and Bombay, and £80,000 capital, has suspended payment. This has led to the closing down of the -Amritsar Bank, which has fourteen branohoa. There was a continuous run on other Indian-managed banks at Lahore on Satnrday, but the English-managed institutions were not affected.
The full extent of tho trouble oannofc yet be estimated. •
