MISHAP WITH. LADY PASSENGER ON BOARD.

London, Septomber 21. Mr. Sydney Pickles, tho aviator who met with a mishap during a flight with a lady passenger, after tho aerial derby race, did not compete in the race; he was only giving a demonstration. Sirs, fitocks, the lady who accompanied him, is an experienced pilot. _ She induced a passenger to givo up his seat to her. Pickles, in turning, steered in the direction of the spectators, near the tea pavilion. Ho was preparing to descend, when the engine misfired, and the machine lobbied. Pickles's feet slipped, and he lost control. He almost righted the machine, which suddenly dived a distance of thirty feet. Spectators and officials fled. Two of the latter were slightly injured, and there were many narrow escapos. Mr. Picklos and, Mrs. Stocks were completely buried in tho wreckage. Pickles,' in addition to the fracture, sustained sevore gashes on tho thigh and abdomen, and a crushed foot. Both Mr. Pickles and Mrs. Stocks were sent to the hospital, where Pickles underwent an oporation. His condition is serious. Mrs. Stocks has not yet regained consciousness. The doctors are hopeful'of Pickles's and Mrs. Stocks's recovery.

A FAST FLIGHT. (Reo. September 22, 10.16 p.m.) London, September 22. Lielifcenant Davies, of the Army Aviation Corps, piloted a Sopwith machine from Eastchurch to the manoeuvres, a distance of 180 miles, in 120 minutes..

WORLD'S BICCEST AERO. ADMIRALTY ORDERS A SOPWITH. London, September 21. The Admiralty has ordered a Sopwith aeroplane, the biggest in the World. It is to bo 'fitted with floats for water-piano purposes, and will carry two enginos, a pilot, and two passengers and a gun. Its speed will bo Beventyfive miles an hour.
