LATE CONDUCTOR BREEDON.

OFFICIAL INQUIRY ASKED. In connection with tho death of Frank Breedon, tram conductor, who fell from the footboard of car 17 on the Oriental Bay line on thd night of September 13, and thereby met his death, the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) has asked for an official inquiry, In tho course of his evidenoe at the inquest, the motonnan of tho oar declared that tho pormanont way was defective at tho spot whore tho acoidont took place. Tho Mayor considers it desirable that the matter should bo cleared up by an official inquiry into the cause of tho accidont, and ho has therefore written to tho Minister for' Publio Works (the Hon. W. Fraser) requesting such an inquiry. No reply has yet been received from tho Minister.
