SOME INTERESTING TABLEAUX. , In tho pageant which is being organised for the benefit of tho Boys' Institute, somo interesting episodes of British history, starting from the time of the landing of Julius Caesar up to our own period, will bo represented. , Mr. J. Atkins, manager for .Messrs. Walker and Co., will bo in charge of the' Julius Caesar group. Miss Ohap man is organising a group which is to represent the introduction of Christianity by St. Augustine and his meeting with King Ethelbert and Queen Bertha (597 a.d.). Mrs. Rankine Brown presonts King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and Mr. La Trobe, the instructors ana students of the Technical College, present King Alfred and the introduction of the arts and crafts into England. Dr. Whyte and Messrs. R. Walls and S. Moore aro busy with a tableau showing King Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn, and the next group to f ollow will be the presentation of the first Prince of Wales. This is in tho hands of Mrs. James Hislop and over sixty characters will be taking part in it. Tho Founding of the Order, of tho Garter is being organised by Mrs. James Hannah. Tho Introduction of Printing, Edward VI., and Caxton, a tableau taken by t'lio Government Printing Office staff, .will depict, perhaps, the most far-reaching event of any that dvei' took placo in t'ho history of Great Britain. Cabot explaining the discovery of North America, to Henry,Vll., being practically the initiation of Britain's colonisation, will be presented in a tableau organised by Miss Hamilton. Messrs. Kirkcaldio and Stains's group, Queen Elizabeth knighting Sir Walter ltaloigh, will also bo an interesting one. Immediately following Queen Elizabeth and her .Court will come a Shakespearian group organised by Mrs. J. Darling, of Kelburno, m which the leading characters of Shakespeare .will be depicted. The Presentation tof the Translation of the Bible to James I. of England and VI. of Scotland is in the hands of Mr. De Laiideß. The manager and the employees of the D.I.C. aro presenting a tableau representing King Charles 11. presenting a chhrter to tho Hudson Bay Company, and Mr. and Mrs. James Dykes are arranging a grimp of which "Bonnie Princo Charlie" will be tho centre. Mrs. Herdman is organising tho " Powder and Patches" period of Georgian times. Clive ut Arcot will be represented. Mr. J\ D. Avery arranging for it, and Miss M'Lean. the teachers and scholars of the Girls High. School will give / allegoricd of tho Industries and Arts' of. the Victorian era. The St. John Ambulance Association has in hand a tableau depicting Florence Nightingale (the''" Lady of thoLamp") in the Crimea. The British .Army and Navy, to be followed by the Treaty of Waitangi in charge of Mr. j Maurice'E. Denniston, and tho Early Settlement of Port Nicholson by the Early Settlers' Association, will conclude the first part of tlio programme. Tlie second part will consist of re-" presentations of various British Dominions, being organised by Miss Bland, Miss Corrange and others. These will go through various evolutions and dances under the dircctoiship of Mr. J. W. M. Harrison, as will also a group representing all nationalities organised by Mr. J. H. Helliwell. . As a grand finalo tho Union Jack will be formed by the various groups, while the massed bandß play national airs. Side-shows, national dancing, afternoon tea, sweots, and other stalls and attractions, will provido a varied entertainment for citizens,'and altogether a unique spectacle is promised for next. month.
