With the exception of dairy stock competition, was good, aud a total clearance was effected at, prices in most. * cafes exceeding vendor's reserve. (Stratford branch), reports as follows:—On Tuesday, September 16, we held a springing heifer sale, when wo yarded 60 head, most of whicih wero disposed'of «t. the hammer.at satisfactory prices. Two-year Shorthorn, heifers, close to profit, £7 10s., £7 15s„ and £8; heifers, backward and small, £4 ss. to £5 ,153.; backward heifers, but in good condition, £5 17s. 6d. to £6 155.; three-year coloured heifers, £7 lis. 6d., £8 53.. £8 12s. 6d., up to £9 2s. 6d.; good dairy cows, showing Holstein cross, up to .£11; ordinary sorts, £5 10s., £6 10s., £7 155., £8 ss. Op- Wednesday, we held our monthly sale in our Te Wcra yards, when we yarded 110 head of cattle and 160 sheep. Prices were as follow:—Young store cows, £3 13s 1 . to £4; two-year steers, 775. to 87s-; two-year empty heifers, 755.; coloured yearlings, 695. to 755.; yearling bull, £2; yearling steers, 455. to 575. 6d. •- We also offered on account of Mr. At-hol Meredith his dairy herd of young cows. Several of the cow© wero in milk, and consequently did not realise so much as - they would have done if they had not calved. Mr. Newton King's weekly etocs report includes following :-On Monday, September 15, at my Douglas yards, I had a very good yarding, with ail improved attendance of buyers from all parts of the district. A good number 01 springing heifers were offered, theio spiling very readily at improved values. Store cattle wero in excellent demand; practically the whole yarding being cleared.
