(By Ttlerraph—Preea AssocdaUon.) « CARPENTERS' AND JOINERS' DISPUTE. Dunedln, September 19. Mr. J. R. Triges, Conciliation. Commissioner, sat to-day to hear a dispute between the Otago branch of tho Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners' Union and parties cited (over 35 in number). After considerable discussion tho parties failed to agree on any points, and the djsputo will be referred to the Arbitration Court. Tho chief point in. dispute was the question of wages. Tho workers claimed an increase of ljd. tier hour bringing the rate up to Is. 6d, per hour, while the employers stood out for the present rati of Is 1 . 4}d. ELECTRICAL V/ORKERS. Dunedln, September 19. Mr. J. R. Triggs, Conciliation Commissioner, sat to-night to hear the conclusion of the dispute between the Dunedin and Suburban. General Electrical Workers' Union, and a dozen or bo employers were cited. An agreement waß arrived at which is to come into force on October 1, 1913, and remain in forco until April 1,1906. THE HOCKEY STORM. Wanganui, September 19. At a farewell "social" given to the lady hockey visitors last evening a resolution was passed unanimously expressing regret at the publication in tho press or anonymous letters containing unwarranted accusations against tho visiting lady players. ' SHABBY FRAUD. Auckland, September 19. In the Magistrate's Court, Henry Joyce admitted having' collected £4 10s. 3d. by tho false pretence that he was the authorised collector for the Young Women's Christian Association's funds. He was sentenced to one month's hard labour.
DOCTOR BROUCHT TO BOOK. 1 Auokland,' September 19. For .charging a feo of 6s. each for vaccinating two people, Dr. W. S. Brockway was fined £2 at tlio Police Court to-day. Defendant admitted charging the fee, but said that ho believed'that the operation was only free when, performed in a placo authorised for publio vaccination. Ho had not charged the two vaccinations against the Government.

noon to-day in ' connection with tho Y.W.C.A. building fund campaign amounted to £11,532 16s. 3d.
BAND JUDGE APPOINTED. Palmarston, September 19. At a meeting of tho North Island Brass Band Association to-night Lieutenant Betitly, of New South Wales, was appointed musical judge for the Auckland Exhibition band contest.
