An orohestra conductor was orossing Lako Lucerne in a steamer to attend a rehearsal. Tlio vessel collided with a skiff containing 'his son and daughter. Tho son was crushed and killed, but the girl was saved. The father, frantic with grief, had to ■be bound with ropes to prevent him committing suioide, and while tho passengers wero attending to him the girl recovered consciousness, sprang overboard, and was drowned'.
