DAY'S TAKINGS STOLEN FROM EPSOM. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, September 18. Mr.- Buokland, assistant secretary and clerk of the scales at tho Epsom racecourse, placed the takings for the day— about £700—in an unlocked drawer while he was attending to the scales bofore the last race. He left an employee in charge of tho room. The latter walked a few feet away to see the •finish of tho race, and when ho returned he discovered! that-tho money was gono. It is believed the thieves got away iu a motor-car.
