GARRISON OFFICERS' CLUB.
(THE DISPUTE ABOTJT THE BALLOT.
In the course of a brief review in The Dominion yesterday of the mam points of ■ tho 'dispute between the Defence Department and the Wellington Garrison Officers' Club with regard to the right claimed by the club to ballot for new members—•& right refused by the military authorities on the ground that the King's Commission is in itself an adequate qualification—tho statement was made that tho. Wellington Non-commissioned Officers' Club had been 'granted tho privilege of bf Hotting for membership,, under certain conditions, and that this privilege was regarded by the officers as one Tea son why the objections of the. authorities to a Ballot irftho Officors' Club should be withdrawn. This statement was made oh the authority of a responsible efficer of the Wellington Garrison.
Since then, however, it' has been inatle clear, from an inspection of the rules and regulations of the Non-com-missioned, Officers' Club (dated April, 1913), that tho statement was made •under a misapprehension, for_ there is nothing in tne Non-commissioned Officers' Club constitution and rules to 'debar any recognised territorial or senior cadet "non-com." from entering the club-room. -. .
