ACCOUNTANTS' SOCIETY.
'ANNUAL MEETING,
The amuual meeting of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants was held on Wednesday. Mr. Robert Wilberfo-ss presided. The annual report (which was adopted)) set out that the most satisfactory feature of tho year's events was tho occupation by the branch of its new quarters. Tho rooms comprised a splendid reading-room, in which ' the library was located, and a students' ,rooni, and these had. been granted by ' the council to tho ibranch at a rental of £50 per annum on certain conditions. The cost of tho furnishings in the library was met out of the funds of tho parent society. Lectures could bo continued only if more interest was evinced. The Students' Society had continued its successful careor throughout the year, and deserved! every encouragement at tho hands of tho branch. The sum of £20 had been granted to tho Students' Society from the branch funds/ Tho Branch Committee made application to tho counoil for a grant for the current year of £130, and £120 was allotted. It was considered that with care this amount would bo .just sufficient to carry out tho work of the branch until June next.
ill moving tho adoption of the report, tho chairman expressed regret at tho poor attendance of members at tlio lectures of tho society,' which was not fair to tho men who had prepared papers.. Ho also remarked that the attendance at tho librairy was not satisfactory. , . Tho following officers were elected:— Committee, Messrs. C. B. Robertson, R. Wilborfoss, W. Harrington, and L. Hawsou; auditor, Mr. J. M'lntosh.
