The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile' Agency Co., Ltd., and Dalgety' and Co., Ltd., in conjunction, report a succcas-ful salo of dairy stock on acoount of )Ir. S. E. Lancaster. Although the attendance of ■buyers .was not largo a rood sole resulted. Springing cows sold up to £15, averaging £9 53.: cows in milk, up to £12 ss. A number of [rood dairy hoifers in milk and at the drop realised satisfactory prices. Messrs. \V. and fi. Thrnlnill and Co., Ltd; (lato J. Macintosh and Co.), roport having held their weekly sale ini thoir Wail>oua (Masterton) saleyards on Wednesday, when they offered a yarding of sheep, and cattle well abovo advertised numbers. There was a good attendance of buyers, competition being very kocn. Practically tho whole yarding was sold under the hammer at prices well up to late rates. Tho following prices were realised:—Fat ew©3, £1 &». Id. to £1 10s.; fat and forward wethers, £1 Is. 6d. to £1 3s. 9d; forward e\vo3 and wethers, 17s. 6d.; woolly hoggets, lfs. to 15s. 7d.; email woolly hoggets, 10s. 6d.. 6d„ to 135.; three-year-old steers, £G lis.; yearling steers, £i Is.; two-ycfl.r-old 6teers, £4 155.; heifers in calf, £3 4s. to £5; empty store cows, £3 6d. to £4 Is.; cows in calf, £4; weaner steers. £2 25.; empty two-year heifers, £3. £3 55., to £i 195.; two and three-year-old steers (bad colours), £4.

BUBNSIDE MARKET.- ' (Bj T«l«ir>Dh.—Pr«>« Aitoelation.l Dunedln, September 17. At Burnsido to-day only 118 fat cattlo woro yarded. The sale opened well, prices showing 'an advance of about 15s. to 20s. per head, as compared with last week, but towards the end of tho ealo values receded a little. . Extra prime bullocks mado up to £17.155.; heavy, £13 ICe. to' £15; medium, £11 to £12 10s.; others, £9 10s, to £10 10s. Prime cows, to £10;' heifers, to £9 10s. There was a full supply of fat sheep, 2860 being penned. After last week's big market butchers had a fair supply on band, and bidding was not brick, price 3 showing a further fall of Is. to Ig. 6d. per head,., As compared with a fortnight ogo values, on the average, showed a decline of about 3s. per head. The sale was erratic, and but for competition by graziers, which steadied the market to eomo extent for light-weight and unfinished sheep, thero fould have been a further drop. Extra, prime heavy wethers, 28s. to 315.; heavy, 245. to 265. 6d.; medium, 21a. to 53©.; light and unfinished, 18s. 6d. to 20s. fid.; extra prime heavy ewes, to Ms. 6d.; heavy, 225. to 245.; others, 18s. to 21s. Twelve lambs were penned, and were keenly competed for, realising up to 275. 9d. Pigs; 145 were penned. Fat pig 3 did not Bell up to Inst week's rates, butchersGtocks not being exhausted. There was keen competition for all stores, however, and lato rates were fully maintained.
