AN ABANDONED CONFERENCE. HUNGER RIOTS IMMINENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Septombor 15. The Employers' Federation at Dublin, replying to criticisms, justifies its abandonment of the conference with the 111011, because of its convict 19ns that it would bo impossible) to inako effective agreements. Three London and North Western Railway men employed at Liverpool have been suspended for refusing to handle JJiiblin traffic. Soven hundred others have struck in sympathy, despite the leaders' advice. Trade in Dublin is paralysed. Prices of commodities are rising, and hunger riots are feared. The builders have locked out labourers refusing to sign a pledge against "Larkinism." SYDNEY WHARF WORKERS. BOYCOTT OF THE AVMMERA. Sydney, September 16. The wharf labourers refused! to discharge the cargo of the Huddart-Parkcr steamer Wiromcra on her arrival from Hobart. It is stated that the boycott will' result in the utilising of clerks to discharge flio steamer Burrumbeot, and that there is a probability of tlio Ulimaroa being similarly treated. (Rec. September 17, 0.15 a.m.) Sydney, September 16. When tlie Ulimaroa. arrived to-day, fthoro wero hardly any wharf labourers in sight.' The horses were-disembarked by a sailoi' at the winch and two permanent .wharf employees. 1 Tho Wimmera was unloaded by the company's permanent staff. BROKEN HILL SHOPS' STRIKE. Sydnsy, September 16. Tho Broken Hill shop employees' strike continues, but tho co-operative stores have been permitted to re-open conditionally 011 the unionists boycotting shops employing non-unionists.
