CANTON MISSIONS.
PRESBYTERIAN COLLECTING CAMPAIGN.
The fund which-is being raised by the Presbyterian Church 'of New Zealand for the further development of tile Canton mission work, in response to the appeal of Dr. John. Kirk,- we are informed. bids' fair to reach the amount originally aimed at, viz., £11,400. Up' to the present between £7000 and £8000 is in hand, and ii largo number of districts still havo to report. At present in Canton there are 18 missionaries working on behalf of the New Zealand Church, and, it is reported, the capital work of tlio medical men, of whom Dr. Kirk is a representative, liaa Ticoji of signal assistance in getting into sympathetic touch with the Chinese population. Dr. and Mrs. ICirk will leave by the Rotorua on Friday, and after visiting relatives in Edinburgh, they will re* turn to Canton.
