FINAL WON BY COLUMBIA. Finality was arrived at in the lacrosse championship competition on the Basin 11-esorvo -on Saturday, when Columbia just defeated Capitol for tho Proud Cup. Both 'teams have been on an equal footing for somo weekß, and Saturday's play resulted in Columbia taking tho cup from Capitol. Tho "face-off" saw Capitol secure the ball, and the splendid passing which followed enabled "Joo" ltenkino to open the score. Play became fast and willing, and, tho custodians of both goals woro lsept busy.' Columbia responded to an attack from Capitol, and this led up to Fams making tno scoro equal. Shortly afterwards Columbia secured an opportunity, and Loydon, taking advantage of it, scored,' thus placing Columbia in tho lead. _ When "spoil' was called, Coard (Capitol) left tho field, as ho had received an injury to his jaw. During tho two succeeding spells play was evon, and tlio score, remained at 2—l. ■ The last spell came, and with renewed vigour Columbia displayed thoir auporiorita especially in their combined work. Fama, with a brilliant 'effort, secured .the ball, arid made the score 3—l iu Columbia's favour. To this Capitol quickly responded, and H. Renkino found tho not. Tho game ended with tho scoro: Columbia, 3; Capitol, 2. Mr. J. H. Rider was referee. .
