THE BULLDOG BREED.

AUSTRALIA'S FIGHTING SHIPS. WHEN THE EMPIRE CALLS. By Teletrrapli—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, September 12. Admiral Sir George King-Hall, Cdm-maiidfflwn-Gliief on tho Australian station, responding to tho toast, "Tho Empire," at tlio Chamber of Commerce banquet, said: "I am a staunch supporter of tho Commonwealth naval policy. It was the only practical Idling; it was that or nothing. It is a. great fallacy to suppose that the initiation of an Australian Navy, will'weaken, and in time dissolve, tile connection between Britain and ono of her most vigorous sons. Not so; it will liavo tlio reverse effect, if the Empire rulers display only ordinary wisdom and common sense.. It is inconceivable to think that the Australian Navy division of the' Imperial fleet would lie in their ports or only cruise on tho coasts of Australia if the Empire were at war, as somo foolish writers liavo remarked.. Where tho danger is thero will bo found the Australian Navy, flying tho same white ensign as was flown by Nelson's ships, and manned by tlio same breed that won that victory." (Cheers.)
