Ho is in Wellington to announco the advent of Madame Lillian Nordica, America's greatest dramatic soprano, as superb on the concert platform as she is in grand opera, and an artist who ranks with tho highest in the world. Mr. Shipman'waxes enthusiastic over the compelling power of tho artist —her magnificent voice, gracious stylo, and queenly presence, all of which has been endorsed over and ovor again by the world's press. Madamo Nordica, , who is to sing at tlia Town Hall on September 25, 27, and 30, is-supported by a concert company of exceptional ability, including Mr. Paul Dufault, tenor, who was in Wellington" with Eleonore di Cisneros last year. Whilst regretting that circumstances prevented tho visit to New Zealand of Mr. David Bispham, the pre-eminent American operatic baritone (who has been giving a series of concerts in Sydney and Melbourne under the. aogis of Mr. Shipman), that enterprising manager announces'that'he has under contract to visit this part of the world in June, July, and August of next year the world-renowned violinist, Misclia Elman, and tho following year, at tho samo time, ho will introduce Madame Schumann-Hoink, tho groat operatic contralto, an artist of thrilling powers, and ono whose prico is too high for Covent Garden. Sho spends her time .between America and Germany. Her lone relaxation is to sing annually for nothing at the great Wagnerian festivals at Beyrouth. Sho is to tho operatic world as a contralto as is Caruso as a tenor. j Mr. Shipman will return to Auckland by to-morrow's express, to superintend tho concorts to be given in that city, commencing on Monday noxt.
