ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
RUN OVER BY A CART. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HoMtlka, September 11. Henry Jacobs, carrier, met with a painful to-day when in tho act of running to his horse's head in order to prevent the animal from gotting away. In endeavouring to pull the horse up, Jacobs fell, and one of tho \vheels of the loaded 1 vehiclepassed over his Tight arm, which was found to_ be badly brokom above the elbow. His nose was also brokon, and besides he' also received several abrasions on the face and body. The sufferer is progressing favourably, , although his injuries are regarded' as being of a serious nature. < FOUND HANGING. Auckland, September 11. An elderly miin named Elliott was found dead in a wharo at Albany, hanging from the ceiling by a rope. Ho lived on a small farm, and had been brooding over losses sustained owing to cows being bogged on his property. HOSPITAL REPORTS. Walter Ross, who fell down tlio steps of tho Town Hall on Tuesday night and injured himself,'has regained consciousness in the Hospital. Josoph Alexander Barrett, a momber of tho crew of tho Awaroa, who sustained severo injuries last week while working on board that vessel, is now practically out of danger.
