Nevertheless 52 out of tho 63 nominated started. They experienced a blinding rain-storm, and it is therefore extraordinairy that the result should have been'record time for the race."''The following are tho results:—First prize, Britannia. Tyre Challenge Cup, valued at 50 guineas, anct also £50 im casbi and a gold'medal valued at £5 presented bv tho New Zealand Athletio Union.— T. J. Sheppard (Kaponga) (Somin.), shr. 50min. lOsec. Second prize—£ls cash and a 1913 Model road 'racar, valued at £15 15s; —S. W. Crutcliley (Wanganiui) (82min.), shr. 50min; 49sec. Third prize—£lo cash and) a 1913 Model road racetr, valued at £15 15s. —G. Wallace (Christchurch) (17min.), shr. 41 min. 21sec. Bonis, of Ohristohurch, was fourth; Henderson, of Palmerston, fifth; O'Shea, of Ohristchurch, sixth ; Coulter, 1 of Palmerston, seventh; Young, of Hamilton, eighth. The prize for fastest time—£2o , cash (including £15 15s. donated ;by ;the ' Britannia Tyro Company) and a gold ■ medal valued at £5 59., donated by the Dunlop Rubber. Company of Australasia, Ltd. — was won by P. O'Shea (Christchurch), whose time was shr; 25mm. 14sec. Tho prize for second fastest time, £5 cash, was won by H. Henderson (Palmerston North).
