LAWN TENNIS.
BROUGHAM HILL CLUB. ■ Tho fourteenth annual meeting of tho Brougham Hill Tennis Club was held last evening, the chair being occupied by Mr. G. N. Goldie, vicopreaident. In moving tho adoption of tho ajmual report, tho chairman congratulated the club on its performances in last season's championships.. Of eight teams entered for tho various competitions, four were first, three wero second, and ono was third. ' Tho report and bal-ance-sheet (already published) wore adopted.
Officers for tho ensuing year wero elected 'as follows: —President) Mr. J. G. IV. Aitken; rice-presidents, Messrs. G. N. Goldio, J. Hunter, G. Winder, atid-'G. A. Hurley; -management committee, Messrs. 1), ' M., Kean, S. Roberts, J. R. Veen, A. QuinneJl, and G'. Grace; lion, treasurer, Mr. J. A. 13. Howo; lion, secretary, Mr. W. E. Howe.'.' .
Tlie secretary reported applications for membership from 21 men and eight ladios. The election of new members .rests with tho management committee. Tho resignation of sixteen members, tho large majority of whom had left for other parts of tho Dominion, was received with regret.
The management committee was empowered to appoint an assistant secretary should such an officer bo necessary at any time.
Mr. D. M. Kcan gave notice that lie would move at a spccial meeting of the club, to bo hold on September 20, that the annual elub subscription be:— Ladies, £1 Is.; gentlemon, £1 lis. 6(1., with the addition of the amount of tho association's annual'levy as fixed for the year. Mr. Kean explained that tho subscriptions were being raised so as to includc the annual levy of 2s. Gd. to tho association. The association had found great difficulty in' collecting tho levy last season, receiving only £58 10s. out of £95 ss. It was decided that the season's play bo commenced oil Saturday, October <1. ORIENTAL CLUB DISBANDS. The annual meeting of tho Oriental Club was called for last evening, but there was a very small muster of members. club lias not had a great measure of success of late ; and in tho circumstances it was decidcd to disband tho club. It was left in the hands of the secretary and treasurer to arrange for another club to tako over the club's members, and to wind up its affairs.
