TERRITORIAL TRAINING.
PARADE AND CAMP DATES. As tho result of the recent conference with the representatives of tho various sports bodies, the following dates have beon fixed for tho Saturday whole-day parades of the Fifth (Wellington) Regiment:—September 27, October 11, November 1 (11)13); January 10, February 21, and April 4 (1914).
Tho regiment is to go into camp 011 May 1, aud remain under canvas until May 9. Tho camp site has not yet been settled, and probably will not bo until tho return df Major-General A. J. .Godley, general officer commanding the New Zealand Forces, from England. It is understood, however, that Foxton will probably bo tho training centra for all the troops of tho Wellington Military District, during the 1913-14 season, as that will bost suit tho convenience of all concerned in connection with the approaching visit of General Sir lan Hamilton, Inspector-General of the Overseas Forces. A divisional camp has been spoken of, with 6000 odd men under canvas.
Battalion evening parades of the Fifth Regiment will be held on Friday, October 10; Friday, November 7; Monday, January 12; Monday, February 9; and Friday, March 27., Dates.of tho routine fortnightly evening company parades have-also been fixed. It is pointed out in tho notice containing tho training dates that a Territorial's obligations under tho Defence Act aro: —(1) To attend 30 one-and-a-half-hour evening parades, and six whole-day (six-hour) parades ; (2) to fire the prescribed musketry course; (3) to attend tho annual camp; (4) to iwtify tho company officer of any chango of address; (5) to return all arms, equipment, etc., beforo transfer; and (6) to take proper carc of all arms and other Government property.
