PUBLICAN'S APPEAL
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Greymoutli, September 10. The Supreme Court was occupied all day till a late hour to-night hearing'the appeal against the decision of the magistrate in convicting AVilliam M'Leod, of Waiuta, of sly grog-selling, which had involved a lino of £50. M'Leod's premises were raided and, as a result, ho was charged with tho unlawful salo of liquor. No evidenco was adduced of any transaction in the nature of a sale, but tho magistrate had held that owing to tho quantity of beer obtained (averaging ten gallons per day), sly grogselling wns evident. The appeal was on the ground that the information disclosed no offence. , His Honour reserved judgment.
