MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

LIST OF REMANDED CASES. Mr. W. G. Ridell, S.M., presided at yesterday's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. There was a fairly long list of indictable cases on tho charge-sheet, all the accused being remanded until Wednesday next, Soptembor 17. , Joseph Maynard, Florence Allen, and William Cleaver wero charged with assaulting Louis Andersen, so as to causo him actual bodily harm. Inspector Hendrey said that the victim of tho assault was still in hospital.

Samuel Charles Minifie was similarly remanded on a charge of attempting to murder his wife.

Robert Murray was remanded on a charge of assaulting David Grinton. so as to causo him actual bodily harm. Ho was allowed bail in his own recognisance of £100, with two sureties of £50 each. William Collins, Walter Wakefield, and William Frank Lethaby. three youths, were charged with breaking and entering by day tho dwelling of Samuel. E. Taylor at l'orirua on Monday, and stealing therefrom clothing and other goods to the value of £6. Chief-Detec-tive Broberg said that other charges would probably be preferred against the accused. His Worship ordered that accused bo kept apart from other prisoners in the meantime.

.Phillip O'Donnell and James Leonard Lomax, also youths, wero remanded on charges of breaking and entering the dwelling of Frederick G. Sanders, at Wellington, on August 17, and stealing therofrom jewellery to the vaJue of £72 18s. and £6 in money, tho property of Amy Sanders; property to the valuo of £8 17s. 6d., belonging to F. G. Sandors; and £21 in money, the property of Isabella Sanders. The accused were also ordered to be kept apart from other prisoners ponding trial. Ernest Solway, charged with failing to make adequate provision for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, was remanded until this morning. Mr. V. It. Meredith appeared for tho complainant. On a charge of. insobriety, Terence Smith, with sis previous convictions within tho past six months, was fined £3. William Ballantyne was fined £2, and William Hoyden 10s.', both for insobriety.
