(From Our Special Correspondent.) « The Pctono police intend to prosecute all owners of unregistered fishing boats, unless licenses are obtained immediately. The funeral of the lat 6 Robert Arkwright, porter at Lower Hutt Station, w'ho died from the result of injuries received in a shunting accident, took place yesterday at Petone. A- largo number followed the body to tlio Taita cemetery. Deceased's associates intend to defray the funeral oxpenses, and subscription lists are being circulated for the benefit of the widow, who is on her way out from England. A wireless message conveying the sad news has been' sent to her. . At a meeting of the Petone Technical School Committee held Jast evening, it was decided, on the motion of the chairman (Rev. A.Thompson), that the committee co-operate with the Education Board to further tlio-bringing about of a technical day-school. A special meeting of the Upper Hutt Town Board was held on Monday evening in connection with tlio preparation, of by-laws for the supply of water to householders and others early ill 1914, when it is expected that at the present rato of progress the water scheme will be completed. Though tlio contract time is the end of "February, the contractors Messrs. Andrews, Kennedy, and Gosso —hope to have all mains laid by January. The by-laws to bo adopted are similar to those in use at Martinborougli. Tho seventy sections and contingent schedules woro carefully gone into, and will, with slight alterations, bo adopted and confirmed in good time ahead of requirements. Since the introduction of more powerful and speedy engines, for the suburban railway servico, it is difficult, without positivo delay at Belmont, Mellings, and Lower Hutt stations, to run to schedule time. Hitherto it was difficult for tho opposite reason, and a deputation is contemplated to urge a later start being made [from Upper Hutt and intermediate stations, in order to give long distance passengers tlio benefit of the "spajp" time now going to waste en route.
