Wagner, a teacher, became insano at Muhlhauscn, and set fire to several houses. . When tho people wore rushing out of tho buildings ho shot and killed eight and wounded ten -Beforo he was overpowered l his pursuers nearly killed him. Before going to Muhlhauson, Wagner fatally stabbed his wifo and roair children. Wagnor, who is 40 years of age, gavo no evidenco of montal disturbance until lie attempted to fire tho town. Ho ignited several barna and houses before ho was detected. Tho villagers attempted to capture him, believing him to bo a brigand, as ho was wearing a mask and veil. Carrying two army revolvers and 250 cartridges, Wagner quickly fatally shot ten people apart from the members of his own family, and wounded twenty-three, who will probably die. Ho finally took refugo in a cowshed nnd killed a bullock with his last bullet. .Most of the villagers fled panic-stricken, but a few, armed with pitchforks 'and scythes, cut him down. Ho was terribly injured, ono hand bo in 2 cut off. Wagner was a highly respected schoolmaster. Papers found at his homo show that it was a carefully-planncd crime. Ho addressed a letter to a Stuttgart newspaper, declaring that ho wished to become the dovil's ally. Tho doctors were unablo to detect ovidenoe of irresponsibility. A murder wave is passing over Germany. Eleven murders have occurred in Berlin alone in a fortnight.
