WINS, MADE IN GERMANY. The jiows that tho English athletes competing at tlio international mooting at Berlin did so well as reported .in Wednesday's cables mates very good reading. Thoy -won the 100, 200, and 300 metres. Tho short sprint fell to J. J. Barker, who ran second to Applegarth in tJio recent English championship "Jiundrod," in 10 9-10 sec., witii V. H. A. D.'Arcy, who ran a second in tlio English championship 220 yds. to Applogarth, second, mid Applegarlih himself, strangely enough, only third. The lastnamed, howover, mado amends by winding tlio 200 motres in 20 9-lQsec., which is giveii as a German record, amd wliicli. must come verv nearly to tho world's best for tsie diistaiime. At tlio Stockholm, Olympic Games this event was won in 21 7-lQsec..' by Ralph Ora/fe (U.S.A.), Applegartli being third on that occasion.
