SILVERSTREAM FIRE.

The residence erected bv Dr. J. M. Bell, Chatsworth Eoad, Silverstream, and just recently in the occupation of Mr. H. A. Roid, was totally destroyed by fire between three and four o'clock yesterday morning. The present owner (Mr. J.. W. Abbott, of the firm of Messrs. Abbott, Oram and Co.), is on a visit to England. The building was insured with the Sun Insurance Company for £900, and a policy of £150 was on the furnituro. Thanks to the help of a few neighbours early 011 tho scene, the piano and other effects in one room woro Saved. Tho high wind was shorn of its efforts to work destruction by a heavy downpour of rain, but even then the sparks fired the adjoining bush.
