DR. MOTT IN CHINA.
STUDENTS' INTEREST IN RELIGION Dr. John R. Mott's recent evangelistic meetings for Government studonts in China havo produced most remarkable results according to reports which havo recently reached England. Ho says that ill all' his experience ho has never addressed meetings so largely attuded and so significant in their character. It is estimated that as tho rosult of tho evangelistic campaign over 137,500. students and' young Climeso liavo attended tho gatherings, whilst there liavo been 7057 signed inquirers. Tho student audiences which avoraged 1000 a night in India havo been moro than double that number in cach of Jio fourteen cities visited throughout China. Mr. Mott has been assisted in this campaign by Mr. Sherwood Eddy, and at one of the cities Mr. Eddy was perimtwct to address tho cadets at tho Military Academy. Tho General and lus stair were present, and Mr. Eddy was given perfcct freedom to mention Christianity, and to ask tho men to join Biblo classes. Special efforts aro being mado to coilservo tho rosults, and competent men liavo been set apart in , cach city w order to organise "follow-up plans. The ranks of missionaries thero voro increased lass year bv 516 new workers, making tno total 5144; native workers increasoii: by 1522. making a total of 15,501. _ mo non-Roman Christian community, deluding baptised members and eateolumiene, increased last year froiii 287,801 to 324.590. o!:iMren ill Ch.nst.inn_ primary schools increased from 58 ; 732 _ to 86,241. Theso schools numoor 3700, and in addition thero aro 500 Wghw schools with an enrolment of moro tbou 31.000.
