A DISCHARGED ENGINEER.
FEDERAL POLITICAL INQUIRY. By Telegraph—Press Association-Oopyrirht Melbourne, September 5._ The Federal Senate Committee is inquiring regarding the dischargo by the Government of Mr. Chinn, who was employed as engineer on the Transcontinental Railway. Mr. Chinn was severely cross-examined regarding his qualifications as an engineer. Mr. Cook, the Federal Prime Minister, in nil interview a fpw days .since referred to the case of Mr. Chinn. Ho said: "Mr. Oh,inn, who was employed as an engineer on tlhn Transcontinental Railway, lias Von discharged, and his friends in tho Senate have rushed to his rescue and set the business of the country aside while they have appointed a partisan committee of inquiry. The chairman has ]>reiudiced Hue case by declaring More the inquiry opens tlhat no-more scandalous piece of persecution has ever taken place.
