At the annual meeting of the Hautere 1 Rifle Club onvT'uesday evening, tho fol- • lowing wero elected officers: —Patron, Mr. W. H. Field; president, Mr. Geo. Carthy; deputy-president, Mr. Jos. - Guy; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. Penn, Geo. Harper, Frank Bennett, Byron Brown, J. Faith, D. Glackon, T. Taylor, J. Best, H. Palmer,' H. Windley, ; and A. J. S. Thomson; secretary, Mr. G. Glackon. Tho monthly sitting of tho S.M. Court was hold yesterday beforo Mr. Poynton, S.M. E. A. Spiers, a local 1 dairy farmer, was proceeded against for offering for salo milk adulterated with > water. A fino of £5 and costs £1 9s. I 6d. was inflicted. R. C. Dick, Hutt ■' County ranger, prosecuted J. Coulter, ; of Paekakariki, for allowing cows to > wander on the Main Road. Defendant, t who did not appear, was fined 10s., and • costs £1 18s. George Royal and Tapu > Keoti wero charged witli being on li- • censed premises, and . were fined ss. I each, and costs amounting to 30s. Measles and whooping cough are • very prevalent in this district, and sev- ! eral children are attacked.
