■* THE BLUES AT ROTORUA. Now South Wales, and- Waikato met to-day in brilliant weather. There was a largo attendance. For tho first half hour New South Wales had all tho best of tho game. . Owing to the .weak defence of the local backs, trios woro scored in quiok succession by Dean, Haddook, and M'Clue>. After these reverses tho Waikato forwards displayed moro dash, and' repeatedly'broke through, but hard kicking spoilt their cliances. The persistent efforts of tho New South Wales backs onahlcd Hallot ( after splondid passing, to scoro the sixth try, and Dnfty then kicked' a penalty goal. At half-time tho scoro was: New South Wales, 18 points; Waikato 2 points; In tho second half play was in favour of Waikato. Their forwards played brilliantly, particularly in the loose, and tries were put on by St. George and Bookham, both being converted by Duftv, who also kicked two penalty goals. Half-<way through the second' spell Qhallis dropped a goal from nearly lialf-way, wM'ch constituted the ' only score for New South Wales in tho Second half. In the concluding stages, Waikato had_ all tho best of the play. Tho final score was: —Now South Wales, 20 points; Waikato, 14 points.
